Om Ah Hum
I've been filling most of my conscious hours these days reminiscing with The Darkness of My Dark Dark Soul™. It's less of a Shadow now – determined to destroy me from within – and now more like a good goth buddy who I can sit with by the salt-lamp, drinking Jasmine tea and listening to Buddhist chant, talking about the world and years gone by. Injecting a healthy dose of cynicism, nihilism, and mystery into my life. Seeds of ambivalence or shining jewels in the corner of my cave, I'm not sure which. Echoes of the coming Spring Mysteries.
Mundanities
-I'm feeling the need for a camera. All my efforts at cleaning the dust out of my nice one are failing. This is very frustrating, and the urge to quickly rack up a hefty credit card debt is becoming difficult to supress.
-I discovered something today that struck me as a very good idea. An open-source audio codec that creats both a stand-alone, decent-sized lossy file (not unlike an MP3) and a "correction" file that, when placed alongside the lossy file, becomes perfectly lossless. The only downside is that the lossy compression is less good than Lame MP3. The implementation is still rather impressive. If you use Winamp, you better get the if you want music from me for the next little while (most of the other players already have built-in support).
